The diagram below illustrates how rain-shadow deserts are formed, specifically through 7 steps. Overall, there are individually 7 steps to create rain-shadow deserts, from the sea to the soil land, form behind mountains that are thousands of kilometers wide. First and formest, on the windward side, the winds approach the sea near the coast, then get pushed upwards and curve alongside the mountain. While the winds go upward, they push air further into the sky, then gets moisted and cools afterwards. After that, clouds are formed near the peak of the mountain, and later they form into heavy clouds which will rain on the windward side. While on the leeward side, dry air after the rain falls goes over the peak of the mountain and continues to the inland afterwards. Then the dry air finally reaches to the inland, it will form into rain-shadow desert right next to the bottom of the mountain.
