Many people claim that authorities should implement policies regulating the usage of social platforms of under-16 individuals. While acknowledging the benefits of this approach, I believe that its disadvantages outweigh its advantages.

Admittedly, control over social applications use for children under the age of 16 can be beneficial to a child’s growth and mental health, especially in his formative years. During this period, children are particularly vulnerable to social issues that are constantly present in social media such as peer pressure and cyber bullying, as they have not reached full cognitive and emotional maturity. As a result, if children inadequately uses social platforms, they might repeatedly face such demoralizing experiences, thereby developing a sense of inadequacy, which undermines their self-esteem and disrupts their overall development. Therefore, adequate limitation on the use of social platforms for under-16s is necessary in promoting mental well-being and holistic maturation, especially during the early stages of a child’s life.However, law restrictions on social application use can somewhat be counterproductive. Limiting children’s use of social service may limit their accessible range of useful contents. Social media has proven to be a valuable supplemental source of information, allowing children to widen their knowledge through niche yet effective educational resources. If restrictions on such applications access are to be applied, children may be deprived of learning methods, limiting their study approaches. Furthermore, limiting use of social media may compel children to follow their intrinsic desire to evade the restriction rather than compling to it. When stripped of freedom to use such platforms, children may be more inclined to developing new methods to bypass security systems and regulations implemented to deter, which may ultimately undermine the initial success of the policies.

To sum up, control over social applications use is crucial to promote mental well-being and development in children, especially during their formative years. However, it is worth noting that such restrictions can be counterproductive, as they can deprive children s of educational resources and compel them to develop bypassing methods in order to evade the regulations.
