Global tourism is gradually become more and more accessible for citizens, leading to the increase in the quantity of visitors. There is an ongoing debate regarding the benefits and drawbacks of this development. Some people believe that this can contribute to the national development, while the others think opposite. This essay will delve into the primary advantages and disadvantages before proposing my own view.

On the one hand, the increase in the number of tourists can have numerous of benefits in terms of economy and addressing unemployment problem. Firstly, the government can benefit from the massive revenue of tourism through the travellers' expeditures on accommodations, transports and entertainments. Consequently, the massive revenue from travelling can contribute remarkably to national budget. To illustrate, Thailand is one of the most developed country in tourism and their economy are relying heavily on travelling. Their famous tourist attractions such as Bangkok and Phuket still generate billions of dollar annually. Secondly, this type of development can solve the increasing unemployment rate. Specifically, with the rising quantitiy of tourists, hotels and travelling sites will need more employees and staffs to deal with the rising demand for accommodation, transport and entertainment. As a result, this might create more employment opportunities for local laborers and mitigate the jobless rate.

On the other hand, while the rising of tourists can has several advantages for the country, it still brings numerous detrimental consequences to the society in terms of society and culture. First and foremost, this increase can lead to the loss of cultural identity. To be more specific, this can stem from the diversity and difference in cultures, customs and religions of a large number of tourists and the local ones might be inferior to the foreign ones. A prime example for this issue is Vietnam, where the youngsters tend to prefer foreign products such as Starbucks or McDonalds instead of using local and domestic ones. As a result, this will cause the loss of cultural identity and tradtional customs. Beside that, a huge number of tourists can cause several social problems, in some well-known attractions, a huge number of tourists which exceeds carrying capacity can pose a burden on the source of energy such as water and light and the waste management systems.＋

In conclusion, although the rising of foreign visitors can offer several benefits, it still come with negative impact on several aspects of society such as culture and society. Therefore, I believe that the disadvantages outweigth the its benefits.
