Overall, the process comprises a series of physical filtration stages, beginning with raw water passing through a break-pressure chamber and ending with filtered water being collected through an outlet pipe. The procedure is straightforward and linear, requiring only simple components and filtering media. At the outset, untreated water is introduced into the filtration tank via an inlet pipe and enters a break-pressure chamber, which regulates the flow and reduces the force of the incoming water. Following this, the water passes through the central compartment, where it gradually percolates through a layer of sand that is 60–90 cm thick. As a result, dirt and particles are trapped on the surface of the sand bed, leaving the water significantly cleaner. The partially purified water then continues downward through a gravel layer measuring 20–30 cm in depth, after which it flows into an underdrain network located beneath the gravel. At this stage, the filtered water is collected and discharged through an outlet pipe, completing the treatment process.
