These days, with the development in education, there has been a debate about the investment of governments in education. It is believed that more money should be spent on skills and vocational training for practical work, rather than on university education. Personally, I disagree with the statement due to some convincing reasons.

On the one hand, the investment in tertiary education will develop the specialized skills of students. Studying in a college, learners are taught specific skills, which are suitable for their fields or careers. Therefore, it contributes to the long-term development of the nation with a highly skilled workforce. Meanwhile, a number of people claim that investment in vocational training is required. This will cultivate a skilled workfore, which meets the demands of labour market. Despite the rapid outcome, many people after attending vocational training were still lacking qualifications. At the same time, vocational courses can only create a workforce that focuses on jobs related to manpower; thus, university education is compulsory in order to train for intellectual pursuits.

On the other hand, the concentration on tertiary education is needed to reduce the unemployment proportion across the countries. When investing more in higher education, such as building more colleges or constructing cutting-edge facilities, it will spread cultural studies across the country. Therefore, more students will be exposed to tertiary education, along with the high quality of lectures. For example, in Vietnam, with investment from the nation's budget, a great number of universities have upgraded their infrastructure and lectures, as well as many policies that encourage university education have also come into force. As a result, more people may attend higher education, leading to a decrease in the unemployment rate.

In conclusion, although the investment in training courses also create workforce quickly, the investment in higher education is vitaly needed in order to educate people possessing higher knowledge. When investing more in university education, it will ensure long-term development of the residents and create highly skilled workforce, which will boost the nations’ economy rapidly.
