There is a common belief that parents and family have the strongest influence on how a child grows up, while other people think that outside factors like TV, friends, and music have had a significant influence in recent years. Although both sides have valid points, I am of the opinion that families exert the strongest impact on child development.

Admittedly, the outside factors such as television, peer relationships, and music have a significant influence on children in modern society. The first reason for this is that social media shapes the behaviour and tastes of children via trends and online challenges. In particular, influencers exert the most significant influence on their followers, leading children to imitate their clothing style, interests, and way of thinking. Moreover, parents find it hard to control the content which children watch online, because there is too much of it and they cannot oversee it all. Another reason is that at school age, especially in secondary and high school, friends strongly impact children. Take friends for example, they influence how children dress and communicate, their preferences, and their attitudes about life. At this age, compared to parents and family, outside friend relationships have a stronger influence than that of parents.＋

Nevertheless, I am firmly convinced that parents and families still play the most pivotal role in a child's upbringing. The main one is that parents are the first people to influence children because newborns have their parents by their side from the moment they are born. The first five years, children are strongly impacted by their parents. This is because during this time, a child's brain develops most rapidly, so what they learn will stay with them for life, which is from everything: how their parents talk, solve problems, and express emotions, as well as from the atmosphere at home. Furthermore, parents are role models - children learn their lifestyle from what their parents do every day, not from what they say. This could be explained by the fact that actions are always greater than words - children learn by watching and copying. Therefore, when parents are good role models, children improve good character and values that last.＋

＋In conclusion, although outside factors have a significant influence, I still believe that parents and family play as a primary role in a child's upbringing.
