Introduction

In recent years, many complainment on the way some information about celebrities lives being publicised on social media have arisen. Although it may be argued that such issues should be embraced as a consequence of becoming celebrities, I believe that they should have the right of privacy due to some reasons.

Body

It is understandable why some people say that celebrities need to accept their privacy being sacrificed as a consequence of their fame. In daily life, it is common to encounter celebrities participating in outdoor activities. As a result of being famous, they might be easily recognised by fans even if covered carefully. It is, therefore, inevitable for them to be filmed without consent. This issue often appears under the form of tabloid newspapers, such as moments of them going to the supermarket, or just simply pictures of them taking a stroll on the road. It is also claimed that private information of celebrities should be shown publicly as it may affect society. In other words, if famous people conduct any improper action, media attention would allow the public to criticise such actions, causing celebrities to change their behaviours to appropriate moral standards.

However, excessive invasion to celebrities’ private life may lead to their degradation in mental health, if serious, there might be a likelihood that they ended up in suicidal situations. To be specific, there are many types of people on social media, including some saesang fans who are crazily addicted to their favourite celebrities. These people, when seeing their favorite stars do something contrary to their likings, might overly drop harsh comments such behaviours. These actions might exacerbate their mental health issues, such as anxiety or depression. To illustrate, the late idols Kim Jong-hyun tried to suicide by using posional gas simply because of not meeting his fans’ demand, particularly dating with the girl he love. Additionally, the right to privacy should apply to everyone, including those who are considered famous. Media focus on private matters, for instance, can distract the masses from celebrities’ professional accomplishments. As a result, this would shift public attention away from their talent, and subject them to disrespect.

Conclusion

In conclusion, while celebrities may expect some level of public attention, they should not have to accept sacrificing their privacy. The media, in my opinion, must balance its coverage to respect personal boundaries while focusing on celebrities' professional contributions.
