The world should have only one government rather than a national government for each country. Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?

Introduction

It is suggested that there should be one governmental system across all countries rather than having a national government for each nation. Although there are some potential advantages, I believe that the disadvantages are far more pronounced.

Body

Granted, there are two clear benefits when synchronising one governmental management approach across the globe. A prominent gain is the alignment of legislations. Having a single government means that every nation follows similar regulations and adopts the same laws, whether they are about transportation, crimes, or other civic matters, which may enhance better understanding of international laws and eliminate confusion among citizens worldwide. This therefore facilitates the simplification of legal systems globally, assisting nations to operate more efficiently. Another beneficial output is that one governmental system could reduce the possibility of cross-border conflicts and political issues, which have commonly arised when countries possess their own government authorities. For instance, when two countries distinctively led by their governments and claim their national possession of the same coastal area, international conflicts may take place as both deny the belonging of the other, which could be problematic to reach a mutual agreement, hence elevating political tension and potentially inducing wars in some nations supporting them.

Nevertheless, I am more convinced that the advantages of this proposal are overshadowed by the drawbacks. One synchronised government may risk the diversity of cultures around the world because all countries foster an identical cultural adaptation. This may consequently diminish distinct national traits, cultural values and traditional mores that have sustained for millions of years, making countries no longer unique and precious of their owns. While a national government for each nation can offer customised measures to their social matters, a synchronised management may fail to address every national issue as countries have different social backgrounds and economic situations, rendering this approach impractical and unfeasible to solve daunting social problems such as poverty, crimes, or illiteracy. As such, there is no one-size-fit-all solution to all social problems around the world.

Conclusion

In conclusion, while the synchronisation of one government across international borders may bring legal benefits and curb political conflicts, the loss of cultural diversity and the failure of tackling social problems are perceptible, which makes this proposal ill-advised to implement.
