Introduction

It is often argued that the media places too much emphasis on problems and emergencies instead of positive developments, and that this trend is harmful to individuals and society as a whole. While this opinion is understandable, I would partly disagree because negative news, despite its drawbacks, plays an important role in informing the public and promoting social well-being.

Body

First of all, excessive attention to problems and emergencies can harm both individuals and society. Regular reports of violence, natural disasters, kidnappings and other terrible events can make people feel worried and afraid of the future. Over the period of time, this might result in a decline in trust to society and increase in the belief that the world is getting worse. For instance, regular reports about kidnappings of children can make parents always think about the safety of their kids. Moreover, too much exposure to this news can numb the viewer's emotions and make him indifferent to these problems. Thus, people will develop a negative attitude towards life while society will become full of fear and worries.

On the other hand, I believe that reporting negative news is still essential because it informs the public about important problems and emergencies. By covering disasters, disease outbreaks, or other urgent issues, the media provides early warnings that enable people and communities to prepare for potential dangers and respond more effectively. For instance, rapid news coverage of approaching storms or severe floods allows residents in high-risk areas to evacuate in time, reducing casualties and property damage. In addition, extensive reporting on social problems can encourage governments to take action and motivate citizens to support meaningful solutions. Therefore, when it is presented responsibly and balanced with positive stories , negative news can raise public awareness, improve public safety, and contribute to positive social change.

Conclusion

In conclusion, although excessive exposure to negative news can lead to anxiety and a pessimistic outlook on life, I believe that its benefits outweigh its drawbacks. When reported responsibly and balanced with positive stories, negative news plays a vital role in informing the public, improving public safety, and encouraging positive social change.
