＋Some people believe that young adults should do a period of unpaid work supporting people in their neighborhood community. This essay will talk about benefits and drawbacks of this activity.

On the one hand, doing voluntary work brings many advantages for volunteers. To begin with, they can build up solidarity among their society. By supporting each other, especially disadvantaged people can make community’ relationship becomes closer which is extremely important to develop their own society.＋ Moreover, giving support to local community can improve self images of the youngster. People having well reputations and meaningful behaviors are considered well-rounded individuals who often care about their society and try their best to improve local community’s life. As a result, they can gain attention and favorite from others, being beneficial in their workplace and society.On the other hand, undertaking a period of unpaid work helping struggling individuals in local community includes some disadvantages. These supporting activities may waste time of donors which can spend on other necessary works. People need a lot of time to complete their works, household chores and other personal activities; therefore, if they have to do compulsory donations to help others, they will waste their time instead of finishing their works completely which can reduce people’s productivity at work. Furthermore, unpaid works cannot give volunteers financial rewards which are the final purpose when people decide to do something. Consequently, when people do not gain any physical benefits for themselves after spending a lot of their time, they may feel discouraged and unmotivated, making them unwilling to do voluntary work again.＋

＋In conclusion, people benefit from supporting local community because they can develop their self images and improve society where they live in. However, voluntary work requires people spend time and effort but they do not receive any payment.
