In recent years, there has been a shift in parental roles of who the breadwinner is in families, from women, who are traditionally considered the homemaker, to men taking those roles. From my point of view, this change can be attributed to various factors and I believe it is a positive development, despite certain challenges.

Currently, the two main factors contributing to such a tendency are the reduction in work laborers and the women earning more than men. Regarding the former, nowadays, more and more companies alter their workers by robots and AI or because the companies are dealing with the financial problem which needs to reduce employees to address it. Another reason is that women earn more money than men, unlike in the past, women had no right to do anything instead of having potential. Currently, some women can be a chief executive officer in some companies, this can expose that women outperform men in some careers. Additionally, some husbands stay at home and are always supportive of his wife’s career choice.

The increasing number of men becoming househusbands also reflect a positive and negative trend but I believe that positive trend is outperforming negative in society. Regarding the negative side, this problem can create conflict between partners because women could feel pressure when they become breadwinners in their family. While their husbands stay at home and are only responsible for taking care of their children, their women need to go out and earn a living for their whole family. Turning to the positive side, when the men stay at home, it could save money to rent a part-time domestic worker and they can spend time with their children, have a good relationship with their children instead of working full-time. Moreover, the fathers could work online and take on domestic responsibilities to reduce and share their time with the wives.＋

In conclusion, this trend can lead to some conflicts between the partners at sometimes, and raising awareness in society about this could be a negative trend but I believe that this shift is beneficial because it not only promotes equal opportunities for both men and women to choose their roles in their family but also promotes children’s aware of gender equality in society.
