The given diagram depicts the evolution of the cutting tools in the Stone Age over the 0.6 million-year period between 1.4 million years ago and 0.8 million years ago. Overall, it is apparent that the Stone developed to become more perfect with a notable surge in size, a more refined shape and an improvement in its finishing quality. Tool A, which dated back to 1.4 million years ago, was fairly diminutive and rudimentary. At about 7cm in length, the cutting stone looked like a primitive stone and did not display much craftsmanship. The front and back views were plain with only a few slight chiselling efforts, whereas the side view was rugged and not very indicative of a cutting utensil. Tool B shows more updates compared to the former one. First of all, the tool became larger and sturdier due to the teardrop shape with broad shape and a pointy top. Second, the front and back views were grounded more evenly and smoothly. Finally, while the stone’s thickness remained unchanged after 0.6 million years, the side edge was undoubtedly much more finely sharpened.
