Introduction

In contemporary society, the growing tendency of young people to admire media personalities and sports stars, even when these figures fail to uphold high moral standards, stands as a contentious issue. While such admiration may bring certain benefits, I strongly believe that this is a negative development owing to its encouragement of inappropriate behaviour and distorted thinking.

Body

A primary reason why I consider this a negative trend is that such admiration may adversely affect younger generations' behaviour. Adolescents are often highly impressionable and tend to imitate the actions of their favorite celebrities. When public figures engage in an irresponsible manner yet continue to receive widespread admiration, young individuals may gradually perceive such conduct as acceptable, resulting in more skewed moral values. Some will argue that teenagers have a clear sense of right and wrong; therefore, they are not likely to be influenced by bad actions. Nevertheless, this viewpoint overlooks the fact that adolescents are still developing critical thinking and personal awareness, making them vulnerable to external influences, especially when such behavior is constantly reinforced through social media. As a result, idolizing inappropriate role models can have a lasting negative impact on young people's behaviour.

This issue is even further exacerbated by distorted perceptions. When media personalities and sport celebrities face few consequences for unethical conduct, the younger generation may receive the misleading message that fame and wealth outweigh responsibility. This can foster distorted thinking in each young individual's mind, thereby gradually blurring the boundary between ethics and immorality. Indeed, if a famous football player is involved in violent conduct during a match, many supporters will justify his actions instead of decrying them. This, in turn, may lead adolescents to believe that fame can excuse unethical behaviour, gradually corrupting their moral judgement.

Conclusion

In conclusion, wealth and fame do not determine an individual's character; their true value lies in morality. Admiring celebrities who do not set a good example can have a negative impact on younger generations' behavior and thinking. Therefore, when we support someone, let's make sure that we make the right people famous.
