The graph illustrates how long people spent on reading for pleasure and listening to music in New Zealand. Overall, the average time spent reading for pleasure increased gradually with age. The time spent listening to music fluctuated across different age groups. People aged 56 and older spent the most time reading at 70 minutes. The figure was significantly lower for younger age groups, with those aged 14-24 spending 20 minutes on this activity. Regarding music, teenagers and young adults aged 14-24 spent the highest time listening at 80 minutes. This was followed by the elderly in the 56-64 age group at 70 minutes. Those in the 33-42 age group recorded the lowest figure at around 45 minutes.
