In today’s technology driven world, watching TV programmes is unavoidable, especially on children. However, watching TV will bring either benefits or disadvantages depending on the type of programmes and their daily viewing. I strongly believe that watching TV will improve children’s knowledge and health.

On one hand, television programmes are designed to suit different groups, so when their parents or the older generation choose the right channels for them , they are able to access more educational programmes. For example, children are only able to watch cartoons or animated films, or even cooking programmes which are definitely appropriate for their age. Therefore, children can get rid of dangerous contents and improve themselves. Moreover, watching TV can reduce the risk of eye-strain on children compared to on phones. As phones are designed with a small screen.

On the other hand, if children spend all their time watching TV, it will certainly bring disadvantages. For example, instead they should utilize that time to acquire new knowledge or participate in extracurricular activities. Therefore, they not only lose the opportunities to learn new things but also worsen their appearance and health. Children may have an addiction to TV due to spending too much time watching. For example, children got used to it when they were a toddler, which contributed to their hobbies. Therefore, it will take a long time to readjust their previous lifestyle.

To sum up, watching TV brings either advantages and negative consequences. Such as improving their knowledge and avoiding dangerous contexts, while it may harm their health and quality of life. But if their parents can manage their time by making a timetable they can get rid of it. I am convinced that this brings benefits.
