It is a natural process for animal species to become extinct (e.g dinosaurs, dodos, etc.). There is no reason why people should try to prevent this from happening. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Word count: 325

Introduction

Some people believe that protecting animals from extinction is unnecessary because extinction is seen as a part of the natural process. I wholeheartedly disagree with this argument, and my rationale behind my viewpoint will be analyzed in the forthcoming paragraphs.

Body

First and foremost, although the extinction of some ancient animals, such as dinosaurs and dodos, is natural, most endangered species today are threatened by human activities. For example, with the increase of factories and vehicles on the streets, the natural environment could be negatively affected by emissions and wastewater when they are emitted to the environment. Some animals can lose their habitats because of this, they cannot live and exist in a pollutant environment, which exerts a debilitating impact on wildlife and the number of some species. Thus, this example clearly debunks the idea that the elimination of some animals in the world is natural.

Secondly, animals play an important role in human life in several cases, which is one of the most reasonable reasons why people should prevent the extinction of these species. Some species provide food, medicine, and other useful resources; while others have contributed to pest control and scientific research. According to the University of Waterloo’s study, roughly 85% residents from all over the world consume meat from some animals as crucial sources of food, which fosters people’s health by providing enough nutrients, vitamins, and other essential substances. Additionally, some species like dogs or cats also enhance the mental well-being of each person who keeps them as pets. Hence, through this lens, it is understandable why people have to preserve animals from elimination.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I once again reaffirm my position that people should try to save threatened species due to several reasons. Not only because this phenomenon has appeared because of human activities, but also because animals are crucial to people’s lives; without these species, humans cannot only lose valuable natural resources but also face serious economic, environmental, and health-related consequences.
