Essay

The table compares the proportion of total expenditure on three segments of consumer goods and service in five European nations in 2010. It is clear that all given countries spent the most of their budget on food, drinks & tobacco, followed by clothing & footwear, and they spent the least on leisure and education . In particular, Turkey spent most money on food, drinks & tobacco and leisure & education while Italy allocated higher money to clothing & footwear than other countries. Out of five countries, Turkey was the highest spender on food, drinks & tobacco, at 32.14%, which was approximately twice as much as the figure for the expenditure in Italy, at 16,36%. The similar pattern can be seen in Ireland, in which the figure accounted for 28,91%, significantly higher than the 18,8% for Spain and the 15,77% for Sweden. Turning to the leisure and education category, Turkey also was the largest investor whereas Spain had the lowest percentages of national expenditure, at only 1,98%. The remaining nations represent a relatively small proportion, ranging from 2% to 3%. Regarding the clothign and footwear cohort, Italy spends 9% on these items , more than any of the other countries. The proportion of total spending on these items in Ireland, Spain and Turkey was nearly similar, at around 6%, which was higher than Sweden with its percentage of 5%, representing the lowest expenditure in this cohort.
