Task 1 (Map): The map illustrates the changes that have occurred in Melvin Island with constructions of facilities, starting in the year 2000 and ending in the year 2010. Overall, there were many different changes in Melvin Island. The noticeable changes were the development of many tourist areas as well as several major infrastructure projects. To begin with, there were several major changes to facilities in Melvin Island with the appearance of a hotel which was located in the western part to replace the Motel in a similar position. The chalets which were directly in front of the hotel were constructed to replace the garages. Besides, the western farmland and the southern village remained unchanged after 10 years as well as the seafood restaurant was built midway between those locations to replace the tearooms. Furthermore, another farmland which was located in the center of the island was demolished and replaced by a swimming pool and spa. The two woodlands changed in different ways while the northern woodland was replaced by the golf courses, whereas the eastern one was narrowed to construct the airport. Lastly, the marina was built in the southern part of the island as well as witnessed the addition of tourist facilities in 2010.
