Introduction

The discourse of whether humanity should actively send messages into space in hope of contacting other intelligent life forms is more important and remains contentious by scientists. While others regard this as an unnecessary danger. I contend that both dimensions prove essential, with their relative weighting contingent and evaluate both views before proposing my personal opinion on this matter.

Body

Proponents of sending messages are driven by one of the most important questions in science, whether human beings are alone in the universe. Contact with an advanced civilization could expand the knowledge about different fields, mostly in science with Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Artificial Intelligence. Based on the foundations of the development of life in other intelligent forms' environments, scientists could be provided an opportunity to solve the future of humanity, especially when the Earth has been affected by the age of globalisation, climate change and a rapid growing world population in the billions. Advocates also emphasize scientists, with the support from the governments and billionaires, have found advanced civilizations for many decades, in order to explore the universe, so this is no longer dangerous.

Nevertheless, the opposite concern is based on uncertainty rather than simple fear. If humanity could receive any reply from outside the universe, people would still know nothing about the intention, values or abilities of civilisations which are far from our planet. Due to the lack of understanding and the similarity in communication and culture, it would be easy to start wars between humanity and other intelligent forms. More importantly, the adverse consequences also would affect the next generations, who never agreed to take the risk. Efforts to contact aliens outside space have been going for many decades without any viable and positive out-puts; continuing research merely wastes time and money, which could be used for other problems such as global-warming, deforestation and wars.

Conclusion

In conclusion, although the idea of actively contacting aliens sounds positive and holds merit, I still believe that scientists should study and analyze research about other intelligent civilisations, but not too actively.
