The provided bar chart and table illustrates the participation of men and women for household activities, except from paid work, in 2008 in the UK. Generally speaking, mostly men took part in all leisure activities with the longest period of time while the reverse was true for women that in household activities, with the exception of repairing where men took the lead. Focusing on the leisure activities, watching TV, radio, or videos were more popular among males with the enrolling of 137 minutes for a daily basis while women spent their 118 minutes for this activity. Reading was the only activity with women allocation more than man, with 18 minutes for men and 19 minutes for women. Finally, sport was not that common hobby for both genders, making up 15 minutes for males and 4 minutes lower for females. Household activities, however, were more participated by women. Women spent their nearly 80 minutes for cooking and washing which was twofold than that for men. The similar pattern can be observed in women allocation in clothes washing and ironing, with about 35 minutes usage which was as double as that of men allocation approximately 17 minutes. Likewise, only 23 minutes per day was spent by men for shopping while women accounted for almost 40 minutes. Lastly, repairing were more done by men with 18 minutes on a daily basis with a small disparity of 8 minutes for women in 2008.
