Nowadays, numerous parents place high expectations on their children to achieve success in life. There are several reasons behind this trend, and in my point of view, this is a largely negative influence for children's well-being.

There are two main reasons why parents put a huge pressure on their children. Firstly, the fierce competition of exams such as university entrance exams and certification ones result in parents wanting their children to achieve high scores so they can apply to prestigious universities or study abroad. They believe that academic qualifications and advanced degrees are the most significant path to financial stability and social class. Secondly, parental stress or burden often result from social comparison and family pride. In a variety of cultures, parents prefer to compare their children's achievements with those of colleagues or relatives. As a result, they push their children to study hard, forcing them to study excessively, even supervising them without any privacy so the family feels proud and doesn't feel inferior to others.＋However, I suppose that this trend can have a significant negative impact on youngsters. At the primary demerit, putting stress can contribute to severe mental health issues such as autism, anxiety and depression. When children are largely expected to perform well all the time, they may feel overwhelmed, tedious and exhausted from failure. Furthermore, excessive parental pressure can break the parent-child bonds. For instance, the number of children may feel their parents only focus on their grades rather than their freedom, leading to conflict and intense criticism, lack of empathy, and rebellion.＋

In conclusion, in order to succeed, many parents want children to get high achievements and pass competition due to social comparison, which makes children feel drained and uncomfortable. I reckon that this pressure can bring a lot of negative development due to damaging children's mental health and straining two generation relationships.
