After that, Japan's figure dropped significantly to just above $1.50 in 2001 and recovered to about $2.50 by the end of the period. A different pattern could be seen in the USA, where prices rose steadily from nearly $0.80 to $1.30 between 1994 and 1995, then remained unchanged by the end of the period. Turning to the remaining countries, prices of banana in France remained stable by 1997 then increased to nearly $1.75 in 2001 surpassing that of Japan for only one year. France's banana prices reached a lowest point of $1.00 in 2003, before growing to just above $1.50 in 2004. The figure for Germany showed the most pronounced fluctuations, fluctuating around $1.40 and falling gradually to about $1.20 by 2004.
