In this contemporary society, many people are of an opinion that crimes should not be reported in a detailed way in newspapers and on TV, since these news can bring about negative impacts. While acknowledging the reasons for this thinking, I believe that this trend has some positive influences on both society and individuals.

Admittedly, it is understandable why some people think that detailed reports of crimes should be limited. One compelling reason is the effect of them on human mental health. This is because watching and seeing these kinds of content regularly can make us feel nervous and worried. This is especially unsuitable for children, whose emotions can be easily influenced by these reports, where criminals often appear with aggressive and violent images.＋ Additionally, some residents are living in areas which are safe with little crimes. As a result, reporting details of crimes can be quite abundant as people might find it boring and repetitive.

However, I would contend that detailed reporting of crimes still remain indispensable today because of its role in raising public awareness and better detection of criminals. As for the former, when viewers are exposed to these reports frequently, especially the youngsters, it changes the way they think about the community boundaries. This stems from the fact that newspapers and televisions often present the punishment of dangerous criminals, thereby encouraging citizens to obey the social regulations by appealing to the viewers' fear. Regarding the latter, if newspapers and televisions show the detailed portraits of fugitives, it can make the wanted criminals more difficult to hide away from the police and local residents, which also makes the process of arresting criminals much more faster, fostering a more peaceful and safer life for communities.

＋In conclusion, although detailed reporting of crimes can negatively affect people's overall well-beings, I am convinced it still plays an important role these days.
