Competitive sports have been around since the start of humanity. However, many members of new generations find participating in them unappealing because of their fear of failure. As a result, they think that sports competitions should be discontinued. In my opinion, I completely disagree with this perception as I think that their long-term benefits are significantly valuable.

Introduction
Body
It is understandable why some youngsters hold the argument of banning sport competitions. In life, there are always two sides to a problem. Concurrently, there are also two contrasting sides in sports: winning and losing. On the bright side, winning can be very enjoyful, boosting one's self confidence and self-esteem, making them proud of themselves and their efforts. However, losing in sports could haunt someone until the rest of their life. For example, missing the final penalty in a crucial football match could deeply affect a person's mental health. Failing in competitive sports may make the competitor feel extremely guilty of themselves, therefore build up a gigantic amount of stress that could affect other aspects in their life. Especially, for young people, experiencing defeats could create an enormous amount of peer pressure, therefore making participants lose confidence in themselves at such a young age, bringing lots of unnescessary negativities into their lifes. In my opinion, keeping up competitive sports is advantageous for several reasons. Participating in competitive sports builds a tough mentality as well as extraordinary discipline in order to cope with intense trainings. Contrary to the norm, losing in sports actually benefits competitors as it builds resilience and the ability to overcome difficult situations. Being able to deal with defeats trains the mind positively, enhancing a person's ability to bounce back from challenges. There is a say that states: "Failure is the mother of success", every unsuccesful attempt is an opportunity for people to perfect their skill set as well as their overall package. Specifically for young people, people who have a lot of time ahead of them, this could help them in life, outside of sports. This mentality and resilence could translate to every aspects of life, making that person less vulnerable to difficulties and therefore enabling them to thrive more in life.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while competitive sports may cause young people to experience negativity because of their fear of failure, I still hold my argument that participating in sports does more good than harm and it could actually help youngsters to be more equipped when facing challenges in life.
