In this day and age, we have witnessed a number of changes in almost all life aspects, especially the lives of young people. To be more specific, it is the change in the relationship between young people and their family. It is generally expected that instead of spending their spare time for entertainment, the young people could better prioritize their family whenever they can. I find this view quite convincing for the following reasons.

In the first place, there is no denying that spending time with parents and siblings helps strengthen family relationships. To be more precise, in this fast-paced century, young people are tending to use their spare time for themselves. For example, instead of staying home with their family members, young people are more likely to attend outdoor activities such as shopping or going out with their peers. As a result, they don’t have enough time for their family, which significantly undermines family relationships. Therefore, it is a good idea for today’s youth to cut back on their personal leisure time and devote more of their free time to family activities. Even simple things such as gathering with family members at dinner time might make such a difference in the long run. In addition to the first reason, it can hardly be denied that this practice could diminish the generation gap among older and younger generations. Parents and their children generally do not share the same opinion in various perspectives due to generational divide. This situation make it even harder for members to understand each other, generating conflict within the family. By prioritizing family time, children might get a chance to open up to their parents and put themselves in their caregivers’ shoes. Hence, this practice may foster greater mutual understanding between young people and older family members.＋

＋All things considered, it is my firm belief that instead of using all of their spare time for entertainment activities, strengthening family bonds is way more worthy for youth to set aside time for.
