Introduction

In today's society, many health problems and obesity arise from unhealthy eating habits. This growing issue stems from several factors, and solving it requires the efforts of many stakeholders in society. This essay will provide my perspective on this matter.

Body

To begin with, the main reason for this problem comes from the “fast” characteristic of unhealthy food, or fast food. Because fast food saves time, many workers choose it before going to work. Plus, in some developed countries such as the U.S., fast food is relatively affordable because it is mass-produced and widely available, making it an attractive option for people from different income groups. Furthermore, there is no doubt that unhealthy food suits the taste of many groups of people, especially youngsters, because of its rich taste. As a result, fast food has become one of the most popular food choices worldwide, which contributes to rising obesity rates and other health issues. To solve this issue, the major solution must come from the government, which is responsible for protecting public health. By raising taxes on unhealthy food, the government can control the consumption of harmful food. Hungary provides a good example, which launched and applied the Public Health Product Tax in 2011 to improve public health, and it actually worked. Besides, the government should encourage agricultural development to ensure a healthy food supply. As a result, healthy food could become more affordable for everyone. Furthermore, creating health campaigns can raise public awareness about food consumption in daily life.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the growing popularity of unhealthy food stems from its convenience, low cost, and attractive taste. Although individuals should take responsibility for their own diets, government intervention is likely to be the most effective way to encourage healthier eating habits and improve public health.
