When children are taught from an early age to distinguish right from wrong, they tend to grow up as law-abiding citizens who understand that criminal behaviour leads to severe legal penalties.

However, I would argue that imprisonment is still a more practical and necessary solution. The most compelling reason is that prison serves as a powerful deterrent against crime. Knowing that they could lose their freedom and endure harsh living conditions, many potential offenders think twice before committing illegal acts. Without this fear of punishment, crime rates would likely increase dramatically, posing a serious threat to the entire community. Furthermore, education is essentially a long-term strategy whose effects may take an entire generation to become visible. In the meantime, society still needs a way to deal with individuals who are already engaging in criminal activity. Prison, in this regard, is the only viable option for immediately removing dangerous criminals from the community and protecting innocent citizens.

In conclusion, while education can help reduce crime to a certain extent by providing employment opportunities and shaping moral awareness, I believe that imprisonment plays a far more critical role in deterring criminal behaviour and ensuring immediate public safety.
