Wealthy families who can easily afford university education would still benefit from public funding, which means government resources are not being distributed based on actual need. This could lead to wasteful spending and reduce the amount of support available for those who genuinely require financial assistance. Secondly, the cost of funding higher education for all students would place an enormous strain on the national budget. Governments have many competing priorities, such as healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development. Allocating a large proportion of public funds to free university education may limit investment in these essential sectors. In fact, these financial resources could be used more effectively in ways that strengthen the economy and improve the living conditions of disadvantaged families, thereby enabling them to take greater responsibility for their children’s education in the future.

In conclusion, although government-funded university education offers some clear benefits, I believe it should not be implemented for all students due to issues of fairness and practicality.
