It is often argued that students should only focus on core subjects which are beneficial to their fields of work in the future. While I acknowledge that these subjects make an important contribution to learners’ future professions, I definitely disagree with this view since every subject remains an integral part of fostering the children’s holistic development and improving students’ career prospects.

The main reason for my disagreement is that all subjects are essential to children’s all-round development. This is because both emotional and intellectual aspects are necessary for them to become well-rounded individuals of contemporary society. For example, while academic subjects provide students with crucial knowledge, art-related subjects such as music and drawing provoke creativity, innovation and even compassion. As a result, pupils can incorporate theoretical knowledge with different creative approaches, which helps them deal with problems more quickly and effectively.＋

In addition, another important reason is that knowledge acquisition in various fields of study can expand career opportunities, enabling students to adapt to the labour market. In other words, teenagers with little experience can not identify which lines of work are suitable for them. Therefore, by raising awareness of every subject, students can prepare for the modern world and experience different positions. For instance, some students may not realise that they have natural ability in sports if they do not participate in physical education. Pupils who expertise in every subject can secure their employment, contributing to their life quality and incomes.＋

＋In conclusion, I completely disagree with the opinion that only core subjects should be learned by students because acquiring knowledge in various subjects can make a contribution to children’s overall growth and employment security. By striking a balance between subjects, students can become productive members of society.
