Nowadays, environmental issues are becoming serious in the world. As a result, there is an ongoing debate over whether raising the cost of fuel for private vehicles such as cars, motorbikes or other means of transportation represents one of the most effective ways to solve environmental problems.＋

One compelling reason is that private vehicles such as cars and motorbikes play a vital role in people’s daily lives, especially for those living in remote areas or on low-incomes. People in such areas rely heavily on private vehicles for commuting to work or accessing essential services. If the prices of fuel are prohibitively high, this will place a heavy financial burden on people.＋ As a result, people are forced to pay a considerable proportion of their income on fossil fuels such as petrol and diesel. Therefore, raising the cost of fuel might be an impractical and unfair approach to address environmental concerns.

Another significant reason for my disagreement is that instead of increasing fossil fuel prices, governments can invest in alternative sources of energy such as wind power and solar in order to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. By promoting the development of renewable energy, governments can achieve more substantial and long-term environmental improvements.＋ In addition, environmental problems do not stem solely from the use of fossil fuels, but are also caused by industrial emissions, deforestation and excessive waste.＋

In conclusion, I totally disagree with the idea that increasing the cost of fuel is an effective way to tackle environmental issues because it might impose an unfair financial burden on many individuals. Instead, governments should invest money in finding renewable energy and upgrading public transportation and regulating industrial emissions, which would be more effective ways to gain long-term environmental sustainability.
