The discourse of whether drivers should pay a fee to drive to the centre of the urban areas in hope of reducing traffic jams is more important and remains contentious. While others regard this as a terrible solution. In this essay, I contend that both dimensions prove essential, with their relative weighting contingent and evaluate both views before proposing my personal perspective on this matter.

Proponents of charging vehicle fees are driven by one of the most significant questions in urban areas: how the governments and city councils can reduce traffic-related pollution. Due to the enormous amount of people come to the city centre everyday, urban residents are affected by various types of traffic-related problems, including noise pollution, air pollution and traffic jams. Charging drivers a fee could become a barrier for rural residents, who came to the city centre for entertainment and shopping necessary facilities. Rather than paying an extra fee in cities, nearby-supermarkets, shopping centers and convenient stores could secure their essential demands with cheaper prices. More importantly, the policy could not only reduce traffic congestion but also encourage economic development and create more jobs demands opportunities in countryside.

Nevertheless, opponents contend that imposing a congestion charge could have adverse consequences for the economy and the tourism industry. While the policy may effectively ease traffic congestion, it could also deter both tourists and local residents from travelling to the city centre for shopping, leisure, or sightseeing. Consequently, fewer visitors would translate into lower consumer spending, reducing revenue for restaurants, retail outlets, entertainment venues, and tourist attractions. Over time, this decline in economic activity could undermine the vitality of the city centre and negatively affect the tourism sector.

In conclusion, although charging drivers a fee to drive into the city centre could bring beneficial aspects and holds merit, I still believe that wider opportunities to come to the city centre could be encouraged more in the future.
