While some people believe that the theatres and cinema are no longer necessary, others argue that they still play an integral role in terms of economy and culture. This essay will discuss both views and in my opinion, I agree with the latter.

On the one hand, there are many reasons why people think that theatres and cinemas are becoming less important. The main factor is that online entertainment is much more convenient. Nowadays, people can watch films, TV shows and live performances on online platforms whenever they want as they do not need to travel to a cinema. In addition, watching entertainment online is often cheaper, as a monthly subscription usually costs less than buying cinema tickets regularly. As a result, many people prefer staying at home instead of going out for entertainment.

On the other hand, I believe that theatres and cinemas are significantly necessary for both economic and cultural reasons. Firstly, these places create many job opportunities for actors, directors, ticket sellers and many other workers. They also attract visitors, who often spend money at nearby restaurants and shops, helping the local economy. Secondly, theatres and cinemas provide a unique experience that cannot be replaced by watching at home. Watching a film or a live performance with other people creates a more exciting atmosphere and allows audiences to enjoy art together. Moreover, theatres help preserve traditional plays and cultural performances for future generations.

In conclusion, although online entertainment is more convenient and affordable, I believe that theatres and cinemas are valuable for economy and culture.
