The bar chart illustrates the proportion of people who used the recommended daily amount of fruit and vegetables in the UK in 2002, 2006 and 2010. Overall, all figures increased in 2006, but all of them experienced a downward trend in 2010. In addition, the population of women remained the highest throughout the period. Looking first at the three groups in 2002, women had the highest rates at 25% whereas men and children accounted for 22% and 11%, respectively. By 2006, all three groups continued to rise. In particular, the percentage of women experienced the sharpest increase at 32% while men climbed to 28% and children's consumption increased noticeably to 16% although it had the lowest figure. Turning to 2010, all three groups decreased significantly, but these were still higher than those in 2002. Although the proportion of women remained the highest, it declined to 27% while the figures for men and children also decreased to 24% and 14%, respectively, and the percentage of children remained the lowest.
