The given diagram indicates the process of recycling aluminium cans, which begins with the waste collection and ends with the newly manufactured cans. Overall, this procedure is clearly divided into four main stages, namely the collection and sorting of aluminium, the shredding and melting process, aluminium purification, and the manufacture of new cans, taking approximately 6 weeks in total. Initially, the discarded aluminium cans are accumulated and transported to the recycling facility, where they are consolidated before undergoing advanced sorting to get rid of iron and other unwanted materials. Subsequently, sorted aluminium is then shredded into smaller pieces before being compressed as compact bales, which are continuously converted to the induction melting. In the thermal de-coating, the aluminium coating is removed by heat. After being cast into ingots, the aluminium ingots are purified and weighed before being fed into rolling mills for further processing. Having formed and shaped, the aluminium is ready for distribution as finished products.
