＋It is argued that a good education, which tackles the root causes of crime, is more effective than imprisonment in most nations. Personally, I partly agree with this view because providing a better education plays an integral role in tackling crime, thereby reducing the likelihood of criminal behaviour. Although imprisonment remains necessary for dealing with serious offenders.

On the one hand, providing better education can significantly reduce crime rates by tackling factors such as unemployment, poverty, and a lack of legal awareness. This is because education enables individuals to raise their awareness of social and legal responsibilities. In other words, its horizon allows people to develop problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills, which equips them with the necessary skills to deal with a variety of real-life situations so they will reduce violent actions such as physical assault and domestic abuse. For example, Singapore has consistently invested in its education system and maintains one of the lowest crime rates in the world. Hence, broadening more and more individuals' horizons by education so they are more likely to make informed decisions in difficult situations. Society becomes safer and more stable because of the low crime rate.＋

On the other hand, it is undeniable that imprisonment remains necessary for individuals who pose a threat to public safety. This means that some serious offenders are predisposed to criminal behaviour due to mental health, genetic factors and psychological disorders, making it difficult for education alone to change their actions. For instance, some prisoners who have a lack of empathy with other people may find it difficult to understand or even fit in with society. As a result, they may struggle in everyday social interactions, such as communicating with others, building relationships, and resolving conflicts. Leading to a plenty of serious issues for society such as murder, assault, and sexual violence. Then imprisonment maintains a crucial role in preventing dangerous crimes for social safety.

＋In conclusion, I think that both a better education and imprisonment are equally sufficient in reducing the crime rate because of these different roles in society. For education, it makes more and more individuals have responsibility for their actions, decreasing violent factors. Then for imprisonment, which allows society to be more stable by preventing harmful offenders.
