The graph compares the average price changes of copper, nickel and zinc on a monthly basis during 2014. Overall, the monthly price changes for copper and nickel gennerally declined over the year, while zinc ended the period higher than it began despite fluctuations. Additionally, although nickel started with the highest change in price at the beginning of 2014, this change later fell significantly and became the lowest. As for the metals that showed an overall decline, around 6% was recorded in the monthly price change of nickel in January. This figure dramatically went down and hit its lowest point at-3% in June before recovering in the second half of the year, standing at 1% in December. Simultaneously, the monthly price change of copper followed a similar pattern, starting at 2% in the first month and decreasing more slightly than nickel to about -0.5% in June. There was a slight rise in copper’s price to roughly 1.6% at the final month. In contrast, zinc had the lowest monthly price change among the three metals in January, at just 1%. This figure also experienced the same downward trend in the first nine months of 2014 but to a less extensive extent than nickel, decreasing to -1% in October. In the next two months, it increased dramatically and reached a peak of 2%.
