The issue of teleworking has long been controversial; while one school of thought holds that working from home is beneficial for employees most; others argue that senior executives experience more desirable effects from this trend. Although there exist explanations for both perspectives, I lean towards the latter view.

On the one hand, it is justifiable why some people advocate for the idea that employees would gain more advantages from remote working. Firstly, people would have more flexible working timetables. Instead of following fixed working hours, employees could opt for their preferred working schedules. As a result, individuals would have more freedom, and this could lead to a growth of productivity. Moreover, teleworking would allow individuals to save travel and accommodation expenses, since it would only require an internet-connected laptop. For instance, many companies have reported significant reductions in office maintenance costs and utility bills after transitioning to remote operations. However, this trend may work in theory; in practice, this view is not without its disadvantages. Because people would fail to go outside their houses when they work from home, they would become physically inactive and lead a sedentary lifestyle. This could result in overwhelming time allocated to their job making people struggle to get their hands dirty, and having some problems with their eyesight due to the blue lights emitted from the laptop screens.＋

On the other hand, I support those who believe that employers gain benefits from teleworking. From a financial perspective, the investment in certain areas like renting office, electricity, and facilities could be reduced, since employees work from home. As a result, senior executives could use these funds for more essential purposes, including fulfilling taxes and allocating funds to R&D features for their products, making them more distinct and worth their price. Moreover, remote working would also allow managers to avoid face-to-face meetings with their employees, and they could still manage them through specialised working systems. This could lead to a reduced emotional gap between managers and employees, making them feel more comfortable, and increasing efficiency and productivity of companies.

To summarize, while employees have certain benefits from remote working, including an increase in productivity and a more flexible timetable, these pale in comparison with the advantages for employers.
