In 1980, it reached approximately 20 million, after which the number fell sharply to nearly 12.5 million. A negligible decrease was seen in the employment figures in agriculture, with the value starting at nearly 6 million in 1960 and falling to just 3 million by 1980. However, during the period from 1980 to 2000, the number of jobs in this sector remained unchanged at nearly 3 million. By 2000, the figure of jobs continued to fall to approximately 2.5 million until 2020
