Practise IELTS Speaking skills Part by Part

This page breaks IELTS Speaking into small skills, grouped by Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3, so you can work on each type of question before taking on a full topic. Each skill holds a few short exercises, and its card shows how many there are, roughly how long they take and the level, from beginner in Part 1 to advanced in Part 3.

Every exercise comes with a prompt and answer tips. Press start, speak for the time the task asks for, then submit. The AI scores you on the four Speaking criteria (Fluency & Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range & Accuracy, Pronunciation) and returns a band, a transcript, pronunciation errors and a corrected version of your sentences. You can also listen to other people's responses to the same prompt.

When you are signed in, each skill card shows your progress and average score, and the practice history tab keeps your past attempts. Once a skill feels solid, move to Speaking paper practice and answer a full Part on an exam-style topic.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How is skills practice different from topic practice?

Topic practice means answering every question in a Part and getting a score for the whole Part. Skills practice pulls out one small part of how you answer, so each exercise is short, the feedback stays on that one point, and you can repeat it as often as you like.

  • Which Part should I practise first?

Part 1 is the easiest place to start because the questions are short and familiar. Once you answer fluently, move to Part 2 to practise speaking for one to two minutes from a task card, then Part 3 to practise giving opinions, comparing and adding examples.

  • Does each exercise use credits?

Yes. Each Speaking exercise uses credits from the shared wallet (the Free plan has 30 credits a month), and the word-by-word analysis in the Pronunciation tab is charged separately. The Speaking plan includes unlimited Speaking practice and pronunciation checks.

  • Can I practise on my phone?

Yes. The page works in a mobile browser as long as you allow microphone access. AI4IELTS also has an app on Google Play: sign in with the same account to keep practising there.
